The purpose of this course is to help graduate students develop a deep understanding and skills necessary to transition from teacher to administrator in the context of language education. This course will explore practical applications of theory as they relate to successful program administration and development. It will provide an overview of the major issues language program administrators face, including but not limited to needs analysis, curricular development, program articulation, teacher training and supervision, program promotion and evaluation, and technology integration.

Project Examples

Requirements

In this project, teams of students will design two marketing materials to “sell” your language program. First, they will put together a handout or brochure for potential students, parents, or educators. Second, they will design a short presentation (video or PP) for 4-6 minutes or 8-10 slides where they will outline the ideal program in an attempt to “sell” it to potential clients.

Students will review current marketing materials as well as meet with the program coordinator before beginning the assignment.
